How often should you get sugared?

By Molly Moore · August 20, 2026

The short answer is every four to six weeks. The longer answer explains why sticking to a rhythm makes each visit easier than the last.

Your hair doesn’t all grow at once

Every hair follicle runs on its own cycle: a growing stage, a short resting transition, and a shedding stage. At any moment, some of your hairs are actively growing and others are resting or about to fall out. That’s why hair seems to come back in waves after any kind of removal.

Sugar can lift hair as short as 1/16 inch, so it catches hairs early in the growing stage. Booking on a steady rhythm lines more of your follicles up on the same schedule over time.

The four-to-six-week rhythm

For most areas and most clients, every four to six weeks hits the sweet spot: enough regrowth to grab, not so much that you’re living with stubble. Faster-growing areas sometimes need the shorter end; slower areas can stretch longer.

Why consistency pays off

Regular sugaring removes hair from the root again and again. Many clients find their regrowth gets softer, finer and more sporadic the longer they stay on schedule, and appointments get quicker and more comfortable.

Don’t shave in between

Shaving between visits resets the clock and brings back the sharp, angled regrowth that causes ingrown hairs. If you have an event and need to be smooth, call and I’ll try to fit you in early. Last-minute openings don’t always show online.

Booking ahead

The easiest way to stay on rhythm is to book your next visit before you leave. Your time is held just for you, so if plans change, give us 24 hours’ notice and we’ll move it.

Quick answers

How often should I get sugared?

Most clients book every four to six weeks. Faster-growing areas may need the shorter end of that range.

Can I shave between sugaring appointments?

It's best not to. Shaving resets your growth cycle and brings back sharp regrowth that can cause ingrown hairs.

Does hair grow back thinner with sugaring?

Many clients notice softer, finer and patchier regrowth over months of regular sugaring, though results vary from person to person.
