Why guys sugar instead of shave

Shaving a back is a two person job and it’s back by Thursday. Sugaring pulls the hair out at the root, so you get weeks, not days. Sugar sticks to hair and dead skin but not live skin, so a big area like a back or chest stays calmer than it would with hot wax.

Coarse hair, thick hair and sensitive skin are all fine. Alexandria Professional sugaring works on every hair type. If your hair is long, we trim first so the sugar can grab it.

Your first visit

Show up with clean, dry skin. No lotion and no workout right before. We’ll ask about your skin and any medications that thin the skin, like retinoids. Then we sugar in sections, following the way your hair grows.

After, keep the area cool for a day or two. Skip the gym, sauna and hot tub for 24 to 48 hours. Then exfoliate two or three times a week so new hair doesn’t get trapped. The aftercare guide has the full list.

Men’s sugaring questions

How much is back sugaring for men?

A back runs $45 to $85 depending on how much hair there is and how long it takes. Add shoulders for $25 or the neckline for $28. Trimming is extra if your hair is long.

Is sugaring OK for coarse hair?

Yes. Alexandria Professional sugaring works on all skin types and hair textures. The hair is pulled in the direction it grows, so it comes out whole instead of snapping.

How often should I book?

Every four to six weeks works for most clients. Don't shave in between. With a steady rhythm, regrowth tends to come in softer and patchier.

Will I break out after?

A few red bumps for a few hours is normal. Skip the gym, hot tub and tight shirts for 24 to 48 hours and exfoliate after that.
